Terms & general instructions

Myterra's door knobs are made to fit any door. Our products replace any existing standard door knob that has a 2-3/8 inch (60 mm) backset   (the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the hole).  If you have an older home whose doors require a  2-3/4 inch (70 mm) backset, simply note this request with your order.

The Bore (referred to in the diagram below as the "circle cutout") for the door knob is 2-1/8 inch in diameter. (2"  bore will also work.)

The Edge Bore (hole at the edge of the door for the latch) is best at 1 inch.

The Strike Bore under the strike plate is 1 inch (hole that goes into the door frame).

The screw mounting points should be determined when mounting the screws to the Latch and the Strike Plate.

Installation instructions
            for privacy (locking) door knobs

1.  To remove the knobs from the spindle, loosen set screws on each knob.

2.  Latch, screws, privacy pin and faceplate are in small separate box within packaging. (For passage sets, follow same instructions but do not install privacy pin).   NOTE: The end of the latch has a head that is reversible.  If your door opens out, instead of the common way of it opening into a room, you can turn the head to reverse its direction.  The latch head is free-spinning before securing it when the face plate is put on.

3.  Place the latch into the end of the door. Rotate the latch head to the direction you want and put face plate over to secure it in that position.  Screw the face plate into the edge of the door.

4.   Insert the spindle.  Attach the gemstone knobs to the spindle - the outside gemstone goes on the spindle first, then the inside gemstone.  Be sure that the set screws face the floor on both knobs.  The inside rosette (with screw holes) should have the two larger holes at top & bottom, with 3rd smaller hole towards edge of door.

5.  Apply the locking pin into the latch through the 3rd smaller hole in the rosette  and tighten.  Then insert the screws through the larger rosette holes into the screw guides, but do not tighten them all the way.

6.  Rotate the knobs several times, both inside and out.

7.  Tighten screws SLOWLY, one and then the other.  Keep rotating knobs so they keep moving smoothly as you tighten the screws.

8.  Push in the locking pin and test it several times.  Then close the door and test it several more times.

9.  Tighten the set screws on the bottom of each knob.

10.  Install Myterra Doorstop and you’re done!

Myterra Doorstops are slightly longer to provide better protection to walls than conventional doorstops.
